Ledermix® MTA
Ledermix® MTA is a repair cement for endodontic emergencies. Thanks to its excellent
biocompatibility, its outstanding marginal sealing properties and its bio-inductivity it covers
a wide range of indications in endodontics.
Indications
- Closure of perforated root canals and furcations (iatrogenic or caries-related)
- Internal resorption
- Direct pulp capping
- Retrograde root canalling and surgical treatment of root perforations
- Pulpotomy in teeth with completed root growth
- Stimulation of physiological pulp development in teeth with coronal pulp infection (apexogenesis)
- Stimulation of hard tissue barrier growth in permanent teeth with completed root development and a necrotic pulp (apexifi cation)

Compared to other techniques and zinc oxide eugenol cement, Ledermix® MTA offers a number of benefi ts:
Ledermix® MTA does not need a completely dry fi eld. It can therefore be easily used without problems, if moisture control is inadequate and wherever other fi lling materials have so far failed, e.g. in the surgical management of perforated root canals or for retrograde root fi lling. As it closely adheres to dentine, it guarantees tight marginal seals and thus prevents bacterial and tissue fl uid entry into the root canal.
Ledermix® MTA biologically seals perforated root canals and furcations by stimulating periradicular dental cement growth. When used for sealing perforations, Ledermix® MTA is covered by dental cement along the periodontal ligament. Used for pulp capping, Ledermix® MTA promotes the formation of a dentine bridge.
Like calcium hydroxide, Ledermix® MTA is bactericidal, as it releases calcium hydroxides and has a high pH. Due to its low solubility Ledermix® MTA shows low susceptibility to resorption and forms a pressure-resistant base when used for capping. Its radiopacity is similar to that of gutta-percha and thus ensures radiological treatment monitoring.
Once mixed, Ledermix® MTA reaches its fi nal consistency after 15 minutes. It is not necessary to wait for fi nal setting before continuing treatment.

Package size:
1 g of Ledermix® MTA Grey for 7 applications
2 g of Ledermix® MTA Grey for 14 applications
1 g of Ledermix® MTA White for 7 applications
Each package also contains 3 ml of distilled water and a measuring spoon.
Composition:
Ledermix® MTA consists of various mineral oxides (oxides of sodium, potassium, silicon,
calcium, magnesium, et al). The optimal particle size of Ledermix® MTA Powder ensures
uniform wetting when mixed with water.
